What God Sees

If faith is a relationship of trust and dependence upon Christ, it is also about living in accord with Jesus’ example. In Isaiah 58 we find a prophets message to a people who were very religious. Despite their actions of worship, their actions did not follow through in giving priority to God’s will. The truth is, God sees. The question is, what does God see in your life? Is it a life of pretense or does your life reflect the life and love of Jesus? When God sees us, our worship, our lives, will He see Jesus? He can. Give your heart to Christ today!

Forgiveness is…

In Matthew 18 Jesus continues teaching about what it means to be a child of the kingdom.  In the passage beginning in verse 15, he gives the order of events required for a resolution for sins committed against another.  A brief look would reveal a private meeting, just between the two parties affected.  If a resolution is not reached, then the case is heard in the presence of two or three witnesses.  If this fails to bring resolution, then let the church hear to dispute.  If a resolution is not reached, then the offending party is expelled.  Seems rather harsh.  Peter asks Jesus, I’m sure with the preceeding story in mind, just how many times we need to forgive one who offends us.  The crux of Jesus answer is, that as often as forgiveness is needed, it should be granted.  How is this accomplished?

Apply these principles: Release, grace, a new perspective and finally realizing that forgiveness is both a decision (right now) and a process (time heals).  Think about it….

I was reminded today that I can do nothing apart from God. I’ve preached that, and believed that for a long time. The stresses of everyday living have a way of clouding even the most obvious truth. Truths that have been a part of our core belief system.

The Psalmist addressed the stresses of everyday living in Psalm 46. From that great Psalm we learn some truths that can be applied to our everyday living.

1. God is always near and available to us. We will never be put on hold when we call on Him. God is always available and anxious to hear us whenever we want to speak to Him. Some of our problems may be superficial while others are deep and complex. The good news is God can help us. So talk to Him!

2. God’s power is greater than anything in all the world. Greater than wind or storms or everyday stresses. There is no greater power. God’s power is sufficient to win the victory over all the enemies that come our way. So don’t be afraid to ask for His help.

3. God’s help works even when we can’t help ourselves. Have you felt weak lately? Have you felt stressed lately? God’s help is available. All you need to do is reach out for it and grab hold!

This help is available to His children. Do you know Jesus? If you don’t have an up to date relationship with Him, seek Him and find Him today.

A reflection from the Lord’s Day Worship:

So, we are religious! To a degree that is true. We can be religious about many things from television viewing to playing ball to even our own families. Religion is not a bad thing, just that we can’t base our eternal destiny on it.

Jesus made that very clear when he reproved the three cities of the Othodox triangle, Korazin, Bethsaida and Capernaum. All three cities were filled with devout, religious Jews who loved Synogogue and the Torah. Only thing missing was Jesus himself. They saw all that he did, they just didn’t see Him.

Jesus is the only way to God. So, how’s your relationship with Jesus? Just being religious won’t get the job done.  Holding to a tradition or miracles of the past won’t be sufficient to be a Kingdom person. You need an up to date relationship with Jesus. He must be first in your life. He must be your personal Savior and Lord of your life. Accept Him today!
